Witter to start testimony in Tivoli Enquiry today

Former Public Defender Earl Witter is expected to start giving evidence when the Tivoli Enquiry resumes sittings today.

Witter's evidence is critical to the proceedings looking into the deaths of 74 people resulting from the May 2010 security forces' operation to apprehend then Tivoli Gardens don Christopher 'Dudus' Coke.

Coke was wanted at the time on drugs and gun-running charges in the United States. He's serving a 23-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to racketeering.

The enquiry, being held at the Jamaica Conference Centre in downtown Kingston, went on recess earlier this month.
